When it comes to installing solar systems, the devil is in the details.  There are innumerable little details that, if you are not aware of them, can cost many hours and more dollars.  Here's one example: you will need a number of circuit breakers for your system. You probably knew that already but did you know that most circuit breakers these days are made in China and the little screws that hold the wires in place are generally soft as butter and extremely easy to strip?  You must be very careful how you tighten those screws because, once stripped, the breaker is done, cannot be fixed and they are cheap but not inexpensive. At the same time it is critical that these connections be tight and made more difficult because the wires are very heavy guage.  If you are unaware of this little detail you can easily strip all the breaker screws before you realize they are not holding the wire.  There is a correct way to deal with this problem and we outline that and others like it in our eBook to save you time, money and frustration.

Wiring is the hardest part of installing a solar system.  We are not electricians but we did the wiring ourselves.  Anyone can do this if they have a healthy respect for the power of electricity and a willingness to learn.  We established a process by which our complete installation was wired and connections tested without any live power in the system.  When the main breaker was thrown to power up the system all panels and boxes were secured with no risk to ourselves. For those who are still not comfortable wiring their own system, the eBook includes a section on how to reduce the number of expensive electrician hours to a minimum.
