New Wood Cookstove

We thought we would add a video of our old/new wood cookstove...take a look. 

We found this gem in the cottage of a local wood stove merchant.  These stoves are hard to find in our area, well, except for the new versions worth thousands complete with digital displays and gas burners instead of wood.  Not too many people appreciate the value of cooking and heating with wood. 

For us, this old cookstove is a real find and we look forward to the job of restoring it to some semblance of its original glory and we look forward as well to the work of feeding it and cleaning it because we know it will pay us back many times over.  My grandmother cooked on one of these and the food that came from that stove smelled and tasted like nothing I have had since. 

Some would question why we would take on such a chore as restoring such an obvious train wreck of a cookstove.  Well, living beyond the grid is not about taking the easy way out in anything we do.  This cookstove is just the latest example of difficult projects we have lined up..stay tuned for more!
